Job summary

Amentum in the United Kingdom is seeking a motivated Junior Geophysicist to join our Subsurface Solutions team. You will bridge data collection and engineering solutions across environmental, defence and energy projects, with hands-on fieldwork, processing, and technical reporting.

You will work in a multidisciplinary environment, using geophysical methods and software to deliver robust subsurface models, site characterisation, and risk assessments for major projects. Hybrid working is supported.

Qualifications

Degree in Geophysics, Geology or Civil Engineering (MSc preferred).
2+ years in a commercial engineering or environmental geophysics environment.
Proficiency in GIS and geophysical processing software.
Full, clean driving licence; willingness to travel UK/overseas.

Responsibilities

Lead and support geophysical surveys with in-house equipment (ERI, GPR, EM, HVSR).
Assist in design of survey programmes to identify subsurface risks and integrate findings with other teams.
Supervise third party onshore surveys (MASW, 2D, refraction, wireline) and offshore surveys (SBP, Magnetometer).
Process data with Res2DInv and Geolitix to produce actionable models.
Interpret 2D/3D seismic datasets and map faults using multiple data sources.
Develop understanding of client requirements and how to meet them.
Prepare high-quality factual and interpretive reports with clear visuals and recommendations.
Maintain field equipment and uphold Health & Safety standards on-site.
