Job summary

Amentum is seeking a motivated Junior Geophysicist to join our Subsurface Solutions team in the Earth and Environmental Operations Area. The role blends field data acquisition, advanced processing and technical reporting within a multidisciplinary UK team.

You will work on environmental, defence and energy projects, travelling to remote sites and abroad as required, with training and development supported in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geophysics, Geology, or Civil Engineering (MSc preferred).
• 2+ years in a commercial engineering or environmental geophysics environment.
• Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS) and geophysical processing software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support geophysical surveys using ERI, GPR, EM and HVSR.
• Assist in survey design to identify subsurface risks and integrate with geotechnical teams.
• Support third‑party onshore surveys such as MASW, 2D reflection/refraction, wireline and cross‑hole seismic with supervision.
• Support near‑shore marine surveys (SBP, Magnetometer, 2D reflection/refraction) with supervision.
• Process field data into models using Res2DInv and Geolitix.
• Interpret 2D/3D seismic data and map structures, integrating borehole data.
