Job summary

Amentum is seeking a motivated Junior Geophysicist with 2+ years’ experience to join our Subsurface Solutions team in the Earth and Environmental Operations Area. You will bridge data collection and engineering solutions across environmental, defence, and energy projects.

This hybrid role includes field data acquisition, advanced processing, and technical reporting, with opportunities to develop expertise across multiple geoscience disciplines and bid/project planning.

Qualifications

Degree in Geophysics, Geology, or Civil Engineering (MSc preferred).
2+ years in commercial engineering or environmental geophysics.
Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS) and geophysical processing software.

Responsibilities

Lead and support geophysical surveys using in-house equipment such as ERI, GPR, EM and HVSR.
Assist in designing survey programmes to identify subsurface risks and integrate findings with geotechnical and geoenvironmental teams.
Support the design of onshore surveys (MASW, 2D, 3D seismic) with field supervision.
Support near‑shore marine surveys (SBP, Magnetometer, 2D ref/refr) with field supervision (offshore certs provided).
Process raw data into actionable models using Res2DInv and Geolitix, and interpret seismic datasets (IHS Kingdom).
Develop understanding of client requirements and how to meet them.
Report writing: produce technical and interpretive reports with clear visuals and recommendations.
Safety & Logistics: maintain field equipment and uphold Health & Safety standards on‑site.
