Job summary

Amentum is seeking a motivated Junior Geophysicist to join the Subsurface Solutions team within the Earth and Environmental Operations Area in the UK. The role blends field data acquisition, advanced processing and technical reporting in a hybrid work environment.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team, travel to remote UK and overseas sites, perform geophysical surveys (ERI, GPR, EM, HVSR), process data with Res2DInv and Geolitix, and contribute to environmental, defence and energy projects

Qualifications

A degree in Geophysics, Geology, or Civil Engineering (MSc preferred).
2+ years in a commercial engineering or environmental geophysics environment.
Proficiency in GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS) and geophysical processing software.
Willingness to travel to remote UK sites and overseas; outdoor work in varying weather.
Full, clean driving licence.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Lead and support geophysical surveys using in-house equipment (ERI, GPR, EM, HVSR).
Assist in survey programmes to identify subsurface risks and integrate with geotechnical teams.
Process field data using Res2DInv and Geolitix to build actionable models.
Interpret 2D/3D seismic datasets (IHS Kingdom) and conduct fault mapping.
Prepare technical reports with visualisations and recommendations.
Maintain site health and safety on-field.
