Job summary

Amey Consulting in Manchester is recruiting for an Assistant Drainage Engineer to join the Highways team on a permanent basis. This hybrid role offers opportunity to contribute to drainage schemes across the UK, collaborating with experienced engineers and mentoring junior staff.

You will work on hydraulic modelling, feasibility and detailed design, while developing toward Incorporated or Chartered status. Amey emphasises safety, professional growth and a flexible benefits package, including

Qualifications

• Degree Apprenticeship or employer-led programme progressing toward Incorporated or Chartered status.
• Knowledge of drainage design processes relevant to civil engineering.
• Able to produce technically sound engineering solutions with limited supervision.
• Familiarity with health, safety and welfare procedures (CDM).

Responsibilities

• Build hydraulic models using Causeway Flow.
• Prepare feasibility and detailed design submissions and respond to technical queries during construction.
• Work in a team to deliver technically sound engineering solutions.
• Prepare and check designs, calculations, drawings and documentation for scheme deliverables.
• Support health and safety practices within the team.
