Job summary

British Red Cross is seeking a Junior Cyber Security Analyst to support day-to-day cyber security operations and first-line defence of the digital environment. The role involves monitoring security dashboards, triaging alerts, and providing initial incident response support, with opportunities to grow in vulnerability management and threat awareness.

You will work in a hybrid setup across UK sites, assisting in secure operations, IAM, network monitoring, and incident responses while following

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of IT and cyber security fundamentals, such as malware, phishing, firewalls, MFA.
• Practical experience or volunteering in security or IT projects is desirable.
• Willingness to learn and develop in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow procedures and incident response playbooks.
• Able to work effectively in a small, collaborative team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security dashboards, alerts, and logs to identify events or incidents and perform initial triage.
• Conduct basic analysis of security events and incidents and escalate complex issues with clear findings.
• Support vulnerability management by running automated scans and assessing severity.
• Assist resolution teams to track remediation and verify timely fixes.
• Respond to ITSM tickets, ensuring proper categorisation and SLAs.
