Job Description

Job title: Foundation Year 3 (FY3) Doctor / Junior Clinical Fellow (12 months from 6th August 2025)

Directorate/department: Trauma

Division: Surgery and Cancer

Main site of activity: Charing Cross Hospital and rotate to St Mary’s Hospital

Responsible to: Head of Specialty: Mr Christopher Jordan

Accountable to: Clinical Director: Ian Sinha

On call

(to include frequency and details of supplements): 1B - 1 in 10 full shift CXH, 1 in 9 full shift SMH.

Role and Responsibilities
  1. The role involves working at the level of an ST1 or 2 trainee. This job is split between 6 months at Charing Cross Hospital and 6 months at St Mary’s Hospital.
  2. This primarily involves the care and assessment of trauma and elective patients, day-to-day care of inpatients, assisting in the operating theatres, as well as routine and out of hours resident on-call duties.
  3. Opportunities to participate in specialist theatre sessions and outpatient clinics are available to enhance experience in these areas.
  4. Candidates can also engage with the work undertaken by the Academic Orthopaedic Department.
  5. If interested, there are opportunities to attend or present at the monthly cross-site Journal Club Meetings and theatre equipment workshops.
  6. This post carries an on-call banding graded at 1B.
  7. You will be a member of the surgical team responsible for delivering high-quality assessment and care to trauma and orthopaedic patients, working with a multidisciplinary team including consultants, junior doctors, nurses, therapists, and other allied health professionals.
  8. The role is supported by supervision from an experienced middle-grade registrar, fellow tier, and consultant orthopaedic surgeons.
