An excellent opportunity for a clinician to gain experience in both inpatient and outpatient dermatology services at a leading NHS trust. The role involves working at multiple sites, engaging in clinical research, and participating in audits. The successful candidate will have training opportunities and be part of a vibrant department focused on diverse dermatological cases.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in both inpatient and outpatient dermatology services within a vibrant Dermatology Department, offering exposure to a diverse case mix including a significant skin cancer portfolio.
The post is primarily based at Northwick Park Hospital, with possible requirements for cross-site working. Clinical commitments include supervised outpatient clinics in general dermatology, minor operative procedures, and inpatient ward work.
There is dedicated time for CPD and opportunities to present interesting cases at local meetings. The successful candidate is expected to be actively involved in departmental audits and have opportunities to participate in clinical research, as the department at Northwick Park undertakes clinical trials and portfolio studies.
Training is prioritized through journal clubs and complex case clinics, providing ample opportunities to discuss cases with multiple consultants present.
Applicants should preferably hold MRCP, and previous dermatology experience is desirable.
The Dermatology service comprises three units: Northwick Park Hospital, Central Middlesex Hospital, and Ealing Hospital. The service has recently expanded its consultant, non-consultant, and nursing staff, including a dedicated dermatology pharmacist.
The service manages a large volume of 2-week wait referrals and is involved in academic activities, including medical student teaching. The department is working with the North West London sector Clinical Reference Group on tele-dermatology initiatives.
Local skin cancer MDTs are held fortnightly on Mondays, and the Trust hosts a bi-monthly specialist MDT for the northwestern London Cancer Alliance.
