Job summary
Ron Johnson is a highly specialised HIV/ Oncology/ Dermatology ward consisting of 19 en-suite side rooms. We are a tertiary referral unit for HIV and HIV related malignancy.
We are a dynamic ward and provide care to patients with varied nursing needs including, administering chemotherapy for patients as an in-patient, delivering excellent patient centered palliative care while supporting families through this often difficult time, we provide care for HIV positive patients and manage their various health needs. We have a highly skilled multidisciplinary team who are dedicated to our specialty and pride themselves in excellent diagnostics, treatment, holistic therapies and nursing care. We have a reputation for being a strong team who strive to deliver excellent evidenced based nursing care while also being friendly and approachable.
In this role you will become a member of our highly skilled nursing team. We strongly believe in supporting our staff to reach their full potential and you will be effectively supported in order to equip you with the necessary skills and attributes required.
We will offer many internal and external courses to the right candidate to gain competencies in many specialised areas including Palliative care, the administration of chemotherapy agents, mentorship, and HIV care for example. You will be expected to work a full range of shifts including long days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be a clearly identifiable senior clinical staff member, and team leader. They will have significant clinical experience, provide sound clinical expertise to their team, and coordinate and deliver high quality care. They will be a role model for expert clinical care, and lead on specific projects / management functions as delegated by the Ward Manager. They will role model the identified Trust values at all times.
They will be the assigned deputy for their manager, coordinating clinical, managerial and education requirements of the area, and being a role model for team members, whilst delivering and overseeing high standards of care. In specialist settings, they will have a significant level of specialist clinical knowledge and expertise in the clinical functions of care delivery. They will provide advice and guidance also.
Provide high quality clinical care to patients, in line with the Trust values and in accordance with professional regulations.
Work in line with Trust policies, objectives, protocols and local guidelines, whilst also being aware of the importance of their role in supporting members of the team, and always adhering to the Trust values, and in accordance with NMC regulations.
Maintain high standards of professional and ethical responsibility, and accountability and be aware of the medico-legal aspects of nursing, in line with professional, regulating and local guidance.
