Job summary

Railpen invites applications for a Business Analyst (Level 1) based in the UK with hybrid working from Darlington. You will help turn business needs into clear requirements and practical improvements across the Change & Transformation portfolio, working with business, project managers and technical teams.

As you gain experience, you may take ownership of smaller analysis activities with support, and you will develop core BA capabilities through coaching and participation in the BA community.

Qualifications

• Strong organisational and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience in requirements gathering, process mapping and data analysis.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication for business and technical audiences.
• Good stakeholder engagement and relationship-building.
• Structured, logical and evidence-based approach to problem solving.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn and develop independence.

Responsibilities

• Gather, analyse and document business requirements to clarify needs.
• Map processes, capture data and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Produce and maintain high-quality project documentation and process maps.
• Coordinate stakeholder input, workshops and follow-up actions.
• Support sign-off of requirements in line with governance and timelines.
• Assist with testing preparation, including drafting scenarios and coordinating users.
• Communicate progress updates and decisions to stakeholders.
• Take ownership of discrete analysis activities on lower-complexity work with support and oversight.
• Develop BA capability through coaching, hands-on experience and participation in the BA community.
