TPF Recruitment is supporting a growing, well-respected firm of accountants with multiple offices across Sussex in their search for a Junior Bookkeeper to join their outsourcing team based in Brighton.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with strong bookkeeping experience to advance their career within a progressive and supportive accountancy practice, with clear routes for progression. About the Role

As part of the outsourcing team—which includes bookkeepers, management accountants, and payroll administrators—you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial information to clients. Your work will form the foundation of the services provided.

You will be responsible for:

1. Day-to-day bookkeeping for a diverse client base using software such as Xero, QuickBooks, FreeAgent, and ClearBooks.
2. Managing client relationships and supporting them with software and bookkeeping queries.
3. Completing bank reconciliations, prepayments, accruals, and other entries up to trial balance.
4. Preparing and submitting VAT and CIS returns.
5. Ensuring work is completed within agreed timescales.
6. Preparing schedules and reports as needed.

Requirements

About You

We are looking for someone who:

1. Has well-rounded bookkeeping knowledge.
2. Is experienced with cloud-based accounting software.
3. Can work independently and manage their own workload.
4. Is detail-oriented with excellent time management skills.
5. Delivers outstanding customer service.
6. Is proactive and a strong team player.
7. Has experience in an accountancy practice (preferred).
