Job summary

bk plus in Cobham is seeking a Junior/Trainee Accountant to join our team. You will prepare financial accounts for diverse client types and assist with audits under supervision, while gaining exposure to accounts, audit and advisory work.

You will work towards ACA/ACCA or similar qualifications, with strong IT skills and experience using Sage, Xero, and CCH advantageous. This role offers hands-on development within a supportive firm environment.

Qualifications

• Working towards ACA, ACCA or similar professional qualification.
• Audit experience with SME owner-managed businesses.
• Experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
• Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using Sage, Xero and CCH would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and small groups.
• Assist with audits for larger clients, including planning, fieldwork and completion under supervision.
• Prepare monthly or quarterly management accounts, including posting journals for accruals, prepayments, depreciation and payroll.
• Prepare control reconciliations and analytical review schedules.
• Work closely with managers and partners to support the delivery of accounts, audit and advisory assignments.
• Liaise with clients in a professional and timely manner, building strong working relationships.
• Support special projects for clients seeking finance, acquisitions or wider business advice.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure work is completed to a high standard and within agreed deadlines.
