Job summary

Hollybank Trustees Ltd in Cobham is seeking a Trainee Accountant to join our Cobham Team. You will prepare financial accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and small groups, and assist with audits under supervision.

We offer full ICAEW training, exposure to a varied client base across accounts, audit and advisory work, and hands-on experience with owner-managed businesses and larger audit clients. Great development opportunities within the firm.

We are looking for a Trainee Accountant to join our Cobham Team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare financial accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and small groups.
• Assist with audits for larger clients, including planning, fieldwork and completion under supervision.
• Prepare monthly or quarterly management accounts, including posting journals for accruals, prepayments, depreciation and payroll.
• Prepare control reconciliations and analytical review schedules.
• Work closely with managers and partners to support the delivery of accounts, audit and advisory assignments.
• Liaise with clients in a professional and timely manner, building strong working relationships.
• Support special projects for clients seeking finance, acquisitions or wider business advice.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure work is completed to a high standard and within agreed deadlines.

Candidate Requirements

• Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
• Strong communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with clients and colleagues.
• A positive attitude, great work ethic and willingness to learn.
