Job description

We are looking for a Junior Head Waiter who will be responsible for running the station in the Dining Room when required, as well as performing opening/closing tasks, taking food and beverage orders, and undertaking side jobs/tasks as a Head Waiter. We seek someone with flexibility, a positive attitude towards the business, members, management, and colleagues, and a willingness to learn. The successful candidate should be able to operate a high-quality, friendly, and efficient dining experience for the club’s members, aligning with the club’s service standards.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical

• Perform opening and closing duties for the dining room and maintain service standards set by the Maître D'.
• Prepare and organize Mise-En-Place to the required standard.
• Ensure all meals are served according to standard procedures.
• Maintain the cleanliness and proper functioning of the dining room, still room, and related equipment.
• Liaise with the sommelier to ensure drinks are served to the required standards.
• Ensure staff arrive and leave on time.
• Maintain staff personal hygiene standards.
• Take food and drink orders following club allergen policies, enter them into the system, and communicate with waiting staff.
• Settle bills and ensure all customers have settled before leaving the dining area.

Departmental Knowledge

• Greet and seat guests according to dining room standards and table plans.
• Answer the phone promptly at the dining reception in the absence of the Maître D'.
• Manage reservations strictly following the booking system, steps, and instructions provided by the Maître D'.
• Be familiar with all menu items, including specials, ingredients, and cooking processes.
• Ensure all food served, including carved items like smoked salmon, meat, and cheese, meets the required standards, including portion sizes.
• Adhere to all elements of the Food Handlers Declaration.
• Be aware of all chemicals used in the dining room and still rooms, and handle them correctly (COSHH).
• Attend departmental training sessions and meetings as required.
