NY Highways Property is seeking a skilled Joiner for a permanent, full-time role in Northallerton with county-wide travel. The position focuses on property maintenance and construction across diverse buildings, from 1st fix to final finishes.

You will join a supportive team, deliver high-quality joinery services, ensure safety and compliance, and contribute to the future of our services while enjoying stability within a forward-thinking organisation.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Joinery (or equivalent time-served experience).
• CSCS Gold Card.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Experience in both 1st and 2nd fix joinery.
• Understanding of Health & Safety practices.
• Experience across multiple trades in property maintenance.
• Flexibility to travel and participate in on-call rota.
• Enhanced DBS check (Children's Barred List).

Responsibilities

• Carry out 1st and 2nd fix joinery across commercial sites.
• Support emergency repairs, planned maintenance, and capital projects.
• Operate trade tools and construct access platforms.
• Collaborate with supervisors, contractors, and internal teams.
• Assist with planning, risk assessments, and digital reporting.
• Mentor apprentices and contribute to team development.

Job description

Location: Northallerton, North Yorkshire with travel across the county

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours/week)

Salary: From £36,236 (£34,796 + £1,440 market supplement) per year* + opportunities for overtime

This role is within NYH Property, which operates independently from the highways maintenance side of NY Highways. While NYHProperty is part of the wider NY Highways group, this position focuses solely on property maintenance and construction across a range of private, public and commercial buildings not highways or road infrastructure.

You'll work on a mix of capital projects and responsive maintenance across a wide range of commercial properties. From first fix to final finishes, your craftsmanship will help maintain and improve essential infrastructure across the county.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Carrying out 1st and 2nd fix joinery across commercial sites
• Supporting emergency repairs, planned maintenance, and capital projects
• Operating trade-specific tools and constructing access platforms
• Collaborating with supervisors, contractors, and internal teams
• Assisting with planning, risk assessments, and digital reporting
• Mentoring apprentices and contributing to team development

What We’re Looking For

• NVQ Level 3 in Joinery (or equivalent time-served experience)
• CSCS Gold Card

• PASMA certification
• Manual Handling, Safe Dig, Abrasive Wheels, Banksman training

Please note: This role will be working in regulated activity and exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. It will then require an Enhanced DBS check with Children's Barred List and enhanced vetting, as part of our commitment to safeguarding.
