Job summary

Somerset Council is seeking several Job Evaluation Analysts for a 6‑month fixed-term contract to help shape how work is evaluated across the council. You will analyse job information, apply professional judgement and support informed, evidence-based decisions.

You’ll contribute to a fairer, transparent pay framework, receive training in the Council's Job Evaluation Scheme and work in a collaborative environment with managers and HR colleagues.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills and the ability to review complex information and make balanced, evidence-based decisions.
• Experience with structured processes, frameworks, policies or assessment criteria.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and produce concise written documents.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Attention to detail and commitment to fairness, confidentiality and inclusive working.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality job evaluations using the Council's Job Evaluation Scheme.
• Analyse role information and supporting evidence to reach fair, consistent outcomes.
• Identify gaps or inconsistencies in information and gather further evidence as needed.
• Prepare clear evaluation outcomes and contribute to moderation and quality assurance.
• Provide advice to managers, HR colleagues and Trade Union representatives throughout the process.
• Support delivery of the programme and maintain consistency to minimise risk.
