Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Bournemouth seeks a Software Engineer II to build and support high-performance liquidity services in real-time, collaborating across global teams to deliver secure, scalable components for the Payments business.

You will design, test, and optimize Java applications (Java 17+), participate in architecture discussions, and contribute to modern tech stack including Spring Boot, SQL/NoSQL databases, containers, and cloud services.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on Java concepts and proficient applied experience.
• Understanding of Java 17+ fundamentals and frameworks (Spring Boot), OO programming paradigms, multi-threading, messaging technologies and computer networks
• Experience with modern testing tools (JUnit, Mockito, Spring Test Framework)
• Experience using and designing schemas/data structures in resilient SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. CockroachDB)
• Familiarity with Linux, containers and cloud architectures/services
• Strong communication skills with globally distributed teams
• Understanding of the full SDLC and agile approaches
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools and responsible AI use

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance, latency-sensitive code with security considerations
• Write secure, high-quality code and automated tests
• Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications
• Identify opportunities to improve operational stability of software
• Participate in communities of practice to drive modern technologies
