Job summary

Experian, a global data and technology company, is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Decisioning Software team in Nottingham on a hybrid basis.

You will design, build and maintain Java-based features, collaborate with Product Owners, Engineers and Architects, and contribute to scalable, high-quality backend services across the platform.

The role emphasizes solving complex technical challenges, participating in code reviews, and supporting DevOps practices in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Experience programming with Java.
• Solid OO design and engineering practices.
• Experience with Git.
• Experience in Agile teams.
• Experience developing APIs and backend services.
• Knowledge of cloud technologies and modern architectures.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and DevOps practices.
• Experience working with relational databases.
• Experience with enterprise-scale applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software primarily using Java.
• Build new features and enhance existing capabilities within Experian's decisioning platforms.
• Work closely with Product Owners, Engineers, Architects and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from design through to deployment and support.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
• Investigate and resolve production issues when required.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering practices, tooling and processes.
