Job description

GMP Recruitment Agency Limited are proud to be partnered with one of the leading law firms in the UK.

We are looking for a confident, approachable and enthusiastic IT Trainer to become the go-to person for IT training across multiple sites.

You’ll help colleagues get the most out of the technology they use every day. This could mean delivering one-to-one support, running group training sessions, creating easy-to-follow guides and videos, or helping new starters get comfortable with our systems.

You’ll work closely with our IT team and different departments to understand how systems and processes are changing, and make sure our people have the right training and resources when those changes happen.

This is a hands-on training role, with a strong focus on people, communication and creating useful learning materials. You’ll also have responsibility for administering and developing the content within our Learning Management System (LMS).

Location & Travel

This is a multi-site role, and regular travel between our offices will be an important part of the position.

You’ll provide training and support across our offices in:

  • Southampton
  • Fareham
  • Portsmouth
  • Chandler's Ford

Travel will include supporting colleagues through face-to-face training, new starter inductions, group sessions and regular floor walking. You’ll need to be comfortable working across different locations and managing your time effectively between sites.

What You'll Be Doing
Delivering IT Training

You’ll provide training in a variety of formats, depending on what works best for the individual or team.

This will include:

  • Delivering one-to-one training, both in person and remotely.
  • Running group and department training sessions.
  • Supporting new starters with IT inductions.
  • Providing hands-on support through regular floor walking across our branches.
  • Adapting your training style to suit different levels of IT knowledge and confidence.
  • Organising external training courses or venues where appropriate.
  • Providing ongoing support and guidance as colleagues become familiar with new systems.
Creating and Managing Training Content

You’ll be responsible for making sure our training resources are useful, accessible and kept up to date.

This will include:

  • Creating and maintaining training documentation and user guides.
  • Creating video guides and other learning resources.
  • Developing quizzes and knowledge checks.
  • Creating surveys and gathering feedback from learners.
  • Uploading and managing learning materials within the LMS.
  • Keeping training content up to date when systems or processes change.

You won't be expected to develop the LMS software itself. The focus is on administering the platform and developing the training content and learning experience within it.

Working With Teams Across the Business

You'll work closely with departmental "Buddies" and colleagues across the business to continually improve our training.

This will include:

  • Keeping departmental Buddies informed about changes to systems and processes.
  • Working with them to identify training needs.
  • Updating training materials when processes change.
  • Gathering feedback and looking for ways to improve our training.
  • Helping departments prepare for new technology and ways of working.
Supporting New Technology and Projects

You'll work closely with our IT Developers when new systems, features or processes are being introduced.

You’ll help make sure training is ready when new technology goes live by:

  • Understanding new developments and how they will affect staff.
  • Working with developers during new initiatives and development sprints.
  • Creating training materials ahead of new system launches.
  • Helping create UAT (User Acceptance Testing) checklists.
  • Identifying potential training or usability issues before a system goes live.
  • Making sure staff are properly prepared for changes.
Train-the-Trainer

You’ll also have the opportunity to learn about new technologies and processes so that you can then share that knowledge with colleagues.

This could involve attending demonstrations, working with developers or subject matter experts, and turning technical information into simple, practical training for end users.

Training Records and Compliance

You'll maintain accurate training records for HR and ensure that training activity is properly documented.

As part of the role, you'll also be expected to follow the professional and regulatory requirements relevant to Warner Goodman's legal and financial services environment, including requirements relating to the SRA and FCA.

The Technology You'll Work With

You need to be comfortable working with a range of common business applications, including:

  • Microsoft 365 – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Microsoft Teams, including Teams Telephony.
  • Adobe applications.
  • Digital Dictation – desirable but not essential.
  • Case Management Systems – desirable but not essential.

You don't necessarily need to be an expert in every system. What's important is that you're confident with technology and able to learn new systems quickly and then explain them clearly to others.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Approachable and personable – someone colleagues feel comfortable asking for help.
  • Confident and articulate – able to explain technology clearly to people with different levels of experience.
  • Patient and supportive – able to work with people who may have very different levels of IT confidence.
  • Adaptable – able to change your training approach depending on the audience.
  • Organised – able to manage training sessions, materials, records and competing priorities.
  • Self-motivated – comfortable working independently as well as part of a wider team.
  • Curious about technology – interested in learning new systems and understanding how they work.
  • Creative in your approach to learning – able to turn technical information into clear, engaging training materials.
  • Flexible with travel – comfortable travelling between our different office locations as required.
