Job summary

About the Role

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed IT Technician to join our dedicated IT Support Team.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day technical support and assist in the delivery of high-quality IT services across a multi-site education environment.

Working as part of a small and supportive IT team, you will help maintain and support a wide range of IT systems, infrastructure and equipment used by approximately 2,000 users across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

The IT Technician will support the IT Support Team with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the organisation's IT environment, including:

• Providing first- and second-line technical support to staff and users.
• Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.
• Supporting Windows desktop and laptop devices.
• Installing, configuring and maintaining IT equipment.
• Supporting network infrastructure and connectivity.
• Maintaining and troubleshooting printers and photocopiers.
• Supporting classroom and presentation technology.
• Assisting with the maintenance and support of telephone systems.
• Supporting CCTV and other technology systems.
• Assisting with audio, sound and lighting equipment.
• Setting up and preparing IT equipment for users and learning environments.
• Carrying out routine maintenance and technical checks.
• Escalating complex technical issues where appropriate.
• Working collaboratively with other members of the IT Support Team.
• Providing a professional, responsive and customer-focused IT support service.
• Maintaining accurate records of IT equipment, incidents and technical work.

Technical Environment

The IT team supports a diverse technology environment consisting of approximately:

• 2,000 users
• Network infrastructure
• Printers and photocopiers
• Classroom and teaching equipment
• CCTV systems
• Telephone systems
• Sound and lighting equipment
• Other associated IT and digital technologies

Person Specification

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Experience working in an IT support or technical support role.
• Good knowledge of Windows operating systems and desktop hardware.
• Experience diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
• A professional and customer-focused approach.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload.
• A willingness to learn new technologies and develop technical skills.

Previous experience working within an education environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
