Job summary

Premier Talent Solutions in Wimborne, Dorset, is seeking an aspiring Field Engineer with a solid IT and networking background. You will move from helpdesk-style tasks to customer installations, IT infrastructure projects and hands-on networking support, with training from experienced engineers.

The role blends fieldwork and time in the Wimborne office, typically three to four days visiting customers and one to two days preparing equipment and planning installations.

Qualifications

• Commercial IT support or networking experience.
• Understanding of basic networking (IP, routers, switches, Wi‑Fi).
• Experience with Windows and Microsoft 365.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to learn and develop engineering skills.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure routers, switches, Wi‑Fi and networking equipment.
• Prepare, test and troubleshoot IT hardware and systems.
• Assist with VoIP telephone systems installations.
• Support Microsoft 365 and cloud IT solutions.
• Attend customer sites to resolve technical issues.
• Maintain project documentation and technical records.
• Work with engineers on infrastructure projects.
