About the Organisation:

An established, UK-wide group of technology and communications specialists is seeking an experienced IT Support Engineer to join their managed services team on a permanent basis. The group provides comprehensive IT Support, Cloud, Cyber Security, Professional Services, Communications and Infrastructure services to a diverse client base, with a growing presence in the education sector.

This particular role will be primarily based at an independent college in the Farnborough area, delivering first-class onsite IT support to staff and pupils, while collaborating closely with a wider education-focused IT services team.

About the Role:

This position is ideal for a customer-focused, technically capable engineer with experience working in a varied IT environment — preferably within education, though not essential.

You’ll be responsible for supporting and maintaining the college’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud-based systems and end-user devices. Alongside reactive support duties, you’ll be involved in system maintenance, project work, documentation, and assisting with IT asset management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality technical support, ensuring prompt resolution of helpdesk tickets and in-person issues.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the college’s IT network infrastructure and cloud systems.
  • Install, configure, and manage a range of devices including desktops, laptops, tablets, printers and interactive displays.
  • Administer and support Microsoft services including Azure Active Directory, Office 365, and Exchange Online.
  • Liaise with third-party suppliers and service providers when required.
  • Support and maintain device management systems and classroom technology.
  • Regularly monitor systems for errors, updates, and potential security threats, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Ensure systems remain safe and compliant with safeguarding requirements.
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation for IT assets and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the wider IT services team to deliver continuous service improvements and contribute to project work.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in IT support or infrastructure maintenance.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and applications.
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365, Azure and Windows Server environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously.
