Job description

The Infrastructure Platforms team manages all server-related infrastructure and hardware within the datacentres in Clarks, including virtualisation, storage, compute, backup, and recovery. We now have an excellent opportunity for someone keen to gain experience in a broad range of systems and services. In larger companies, roles tend to be more specialized, but working in our small team means this role encompasses many technologies.

What You'll Do

Your daily activities may include remote management of operating systems, performance monitoring and tuning, troubleshooting (often involving multiple teams and out-of-hours support), hardware replacement, storage appliance maintenance, cabling, and firmware updates. The role is diverse, and flexibility is essential.

This position requires a minimum of 3 days per week in the office. Given the small size of the infrastructure team, effective interaction with team members during troubleshooting is critical.

You may be required to provide out-of-hours support and hands-on assistance as needed. Since the data centres and hardware are UK-based, short-notice travel may be necessary.

What You'll Bring

To succeed, you should have:

• At least 5 years of experience with IBM Power hardware, including setup, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, firmware, and software management.
• 5 years of experience in AIX and Linux System Administration on IBM Power architecture, including patching, OS upgrades, deployment, troubleshooting, shell scripting (ksh and bash), and role-based access management.
• Experience with HMC configuration, upgrades, and maintenance, supporting approximately 150 LPARs across UK sites.
• Knowledge of VIOS configuration and management.
• Experience with Brocade SAN switches, zoning, configuration, troubleshooting, and fibre cabling.
• IBM Storage experience, including provisioning, snapshot restore, and replication.
• 3-5 years of experience with IBM Workload Scheduler, including HADR, platform maintenance, upgrades, and level 3 support.
• Skills in troubleshooting, capacity planning, and disaster recovery procedures.
• Experience maintaining SFTP servers and scripting.
• Knowledge of IBM Spectrum Protect, including tape library and disk backup management, and ALMS.
• Experience with LPAR2RRD for system monitoring and tuning.
• Ability to work in small teams, make risk-based decisions under pressure, and communicate effectively with technical and business teams.
