Job summary

QinetiQ Limited at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire seeks a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer to maintain and enhance enterprise IT networks and secure systems that support operational capability.

You will administer Windows infrastructure, Cisco networks, and lead technical work across incidents, upgrades and projects while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with stakeholders in a highly regulated defence environment. Active DV clearance is required.

The Role

As a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the critical IT networks and systems that support operational capability within a highly secure defence environment. You'll be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance and security of enterprise infrastructure whilst providing technical leadership across complex support and improvement activities.

Day-to-day, you'll administer and support Windows-based IT infrastructure and Cisco networks, investigate and resolve complex technical issues, deliver infrastructure upgrades, and act as a subject matter expert for network and workstation technologies. You'll work closely with stakeholders, mentor junior engineers and contribute to the continual improvement of critical IT services.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting and administering enterprise Windows workstation and network environments
• Leading the investigation and resolution of complex infrastructure and network incidents
• Planning and implementing operating system upgrades, software deployments and infrastructure enhancements
• Configuring and supporting Cisco network technologies across secure environments
• Maintaining accurate technical documentation, asset records and configuration information
• Providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to junior engineers and support teams

Essential experience of the IT Ops Engineer:

• Experience supporting and administering enterprise Microsoft Windows environments
• Strong infrastructure and networking knowledge, including troubleshooting complex technical issues
• Experience delivering operating system upgrades, software deployments or infrastructure improvement projects
• Experience working within secure, defence, government or highly regulated environments
• Ability to provide technical leadership and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Essential qualifications for the IT Ops Engineer :

• Active MOD DV clearance
• Relevant industry certification such as CCNA, ITIL Foundation or equivalent experience
• Evidence of continuing professional development within infrastructure, networking or IT operations disciplines

This role is 37 hours per week based at our RAF Waddingtonsite on a full time basis. QinetiQ operates the RAF Waddington site in Lincolnshire in supporting advanced defence technology, flight systems engineering, and synthetic training environments.
