Job summary

Volvo Trucks UK and Ireland is seeking an experienced IT professional to support our dealership, depot and office IT infrastructure. You will troubleshoot issues, install and support IT hardware, manage assets and drive improvements across a distributed environment.

The role requires strong knowledge of Windows, networked services and enterprise IT, with travel across Scotland and the North of England as part of the duties.

Qualifications

• Experience working in IT, ideally within a complex or multinational organisation.
• Strong knowledge of IT environments, networked services and Microsoft Windows.
• Experience supporting hardware, mobile devices and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience supporting infrastructure or business projects.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with people at all levels.
• A curious, adaptable and team focused approach, with the ability to learn, solve problems and work collaboratively with others.
• A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel frequently.
• An IT-relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve IT faults, minimising downtime and disruption.
• Install, maintain and support IT hardware across our locations.
• Manage IT assets, including inventory, lifecycle management, equipment labelling and disposal.
• Carry out routine maintenance, including system updates, patch management and antivirus activities.
• Work with suppliers on repairs, replacements, upgrades and new implementations.
• Support infrastructure projects, security assessments and group-wide change.
• Advise and coach colleagues on IT systems, applications and solutions.
• Keep up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending improvements to IT infrastructure.

Job description

Salary: up to £37,000 & annual company bonus up to 5%

Location: Glasgow Cardonald, with hybrid working

Travel: Regular travel across Scotland and the North of England, with occasional wider UK travel

Technology is an important part of how Volvo Truck & Bus Centres operates. Our dealerships, depots and teams rely on reliable IT systems and infrastructure to support our customers and keep the business running effectively.

This is a varied, hands-on opportunity where you will troubleshoot technical issues, support infrastructure and hardware, while contributing to technology projects.

You will deliver and support IT infrastructure services across our 11 Truck & Bus Centre locations and regional offices, managing the technical administration of local and group IT systems. You will also install and support IT hardware, manage change and fault events, and work to minimise downtime while keeping clear and effective communication with the business.

You are an experienced IT professional with strong technical knowledge and a practical approach to problem solving. You are confident working independently, communicating with different teams and providing a high level of service.
