Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated 2nd Line IT Support Engineer with strong technical troubleshooting skills and end-user support experience. This role focuses on providing day-to-day operational support for Simulator, Dyno, Rig, and associated IT systems, acting as an escalation point from 1st Line and working closely with 3rd Line Infrastructure Engineers.

The ideal candidate will be hands‑on, proactive, and comfortable working in a high‑performance, time‑critical environment, with a strong interest in progressing toward a future 3rd Line Infrastructure or Specialist role. Prior experience supporting complex technical environments, such as engineering, manufacturing, or motorsport systems, is highly desirable.

The role is predominantly factory‑based, with occasional involvement in trackside event support and remote site support (e.g. wind tunnel facilities).

This position requires you to have Knowledge, Skills and Experience with the following technologies:

Key Responsibilities:
Dyno, Simulator & Car Systems support:
  • Provide day‑to‑day support and troubleshooting for the Simulator, Dyno and Rig environments

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, OS, network, and application‑related issues impacting engineering systems.

  • Support the deployment and maintenance of IT solutions used within telemetry and car systems toolchains.

  • Assist with monitoring, alerting, and improving visibility of Dyno, Simulator, and Rig environments.

  • Standardise and Maintain the IT Infrastructure supporting Telemetry toolchain environments

Infrastructure Support:
  • Provide day‑to‑day support and troubleshooting for IT infrastructure systems, including servers, networking hardware and virtualised environments,

  • Monitor and maintain system performance, uptime, and security for all critical infrastructure.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues, ensuring minimal downtime.

  • Monitor and maintain the backup platforms and conduct regular system updates to ensure reliability and security.

Project Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in IT infrastructure projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and the integration of new technologies.

  • Design, plan, and implement infrastructure solutions that meet organisational needs for scalability, performance, and security.

  • Collaborate with project managers and cross‑functional teams to deliver IT projects on time and within budget.

  • Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables, ensuring a smooth execution of new technology implementations.

  • Provide expertise in infrastructure planning and design, ensuring best practices are followed.

Security & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for infrastructure security and data protection.

  • Regularly audit systems to ensure they meet security policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in vulnerability assessments and the implementation of security patches and updates.

Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with other IT teams (networking, security, applications, etc.) to ensure cohesive and efficient infrastructure solutions.

  • Provide technical support and mentoring to junior engineers and other team members.

  • Communicate technical issues, project updates, and recommendations to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Proven experience in the IT sector, supported by direct involvement in end‑user support and the coordination of technology projects

  • Strong knowledge and hands‑on experience with:

  • Client Administration (Windows and Linux Operating Systems)

  • Server administration (Windows and Linux Operating Systems)

  • Virtualisation platforms (VMware, Linux KVM/OVIRT, CitrixXen)

  • Structured and Unstructured storage systems (HPE, NetApp, IBM, Pure)

  • Microsoft Active Directory and Entra ID

  • Backup and disaster recovery solutions

  • Experience supporting complex and specialist technical environments

  • Familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools

  • Understanding of IT security principles and operational best practices

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Citrix DaaS

  • Exposure to motorsport, engineering, or simulation environments

  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools

  • Understanding of LAN and WAN concepts
