Job Description

The IT Business Analyst plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between business needs and information technology solutions. This position involves gathering, analysing, and documenting business requirements to ensure IT projects align with strategic objectives. The role requires close collaboration with stakeholders across various departments to identify opportunities for process improvement and to support the delivery of effective technology solutions within the banking and finance sector.

Key Job Duties

• Engage with business stakeholders to elicit, analyse and document detailed business requirements and functional specifications.
• Translate business needs into clear, concise technical requirements that guide IT development teams.
• Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather requirements, clarify objectives, and resolve issues.
• Develop and maintain process maps, user stories, and use cases to support system design and development.
• Collaborate with project managers, developers, testers, and other IT professionals to ensure timely and successful delivery of projects.
• Conduct impact analysis to assess changes to systems, processes, and data flows.
• Support user acceptance testing by preparing test scenarios and coordinating testing activities with end users.
• Monitor project progress and highlight risks or issues related to requirements or scope.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation to ensure transparency and traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
• Advise on best practises and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance business processes and system functionality.

Required Qualifications

• A recognised qualification in business analysis, information technology, or a related discipline.
• Strong understanding of the banking and finance industry, including relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
• Demonstrable experience in gathering and analysing business requirements within IT projects.
• Proficient in creating clear and detailed documentation such as business requirement documents, functional specifications, and process flows.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Education

• A degree in computer science, business information systems, finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Professional certifications in business analysis such as BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis or equivalent are advantageous.

Experience

• At least three years of experience as a business analyst, preferably within the banking and finance sector.
• Experience working on IT projects involving system development, implementation, or enhancement.
• Familiarity with agile and waterfall project methodologies.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering projects that meet business requirements and improve operational efficiency.

Knowledge and Skills

• Deep understanding of business analysis techniques and tools, including requirements gathering, modelling, and documentation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to think critically and propose innovative solutions.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Competence in using business analysis software and tools such as Microsoft Visio, JIRA, Confluence, or similar.
• Good knowledge of software development life cycles and testing processes.
• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality outputs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within regulated environments, particularly in banking or financial services.
• Knowledge of data analysis and reporting tools.
• Familiarity with digital transformation initiatives and emerging technologies relevant to the financial sector.
• Advanced professional qualifications such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Prince2 Practitioner.
