Job description

Salary up to £24,761.88 per annum (dependant on age)

This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy.

The vacancy

We are looking for an IT Apprentice to join our team in Skelmersdale on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will achieve a Level 3 certification via an apprenticeship, with off-the-job training during their normal working hours to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for the role.

Duties will include:
  • Being the first point of contact for all IT queries
  • Creating and maintaining user accounts across various IT systems, including Active Directory
  • Troubleshooting operating system, hardware, and application issues
  • Maintaining a virtual server infrastructure, including hardware
  • Commissioning, repairing, and decommissioning IT equipment as required
  • Supporting the wider team with cyber security efforts
  • Configuring and deploying secured mobile devices
  • Learning PowerShell and creating scripts for support requests
  • Liaising with third parties for issue resolution or upgrades
  • Monitoring systems to ensure hardware and software are up to date
  • Assisting with physical moves of IT equipment
  • Educating users on IT systems
  • Ensuring documentation is current
Successful candidates will have:
  • An interest in IT, technology, and problem-solving
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • A basic understanding of Microsoft Office and Windows OS
  • The ability to research and independently resolve issues
  • The capability to work independently and in a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Education:
  • 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (A*-C), including English and Maths, or Functional Skills Level 2
  • Previous IT-related coursework or personal projects
