Job summary

Chadwick Nott is seeking an Intellectual Property Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive to join the Exeter office and the established Company & Commercial team. The role covers a broad IP practice for a diverse client base including businesses, charities and high-net-worth individuals, with both contentious and non-contentious work.

You will handle a varied caseload, draft and negotiate licensing, advise on trade marks, designs, and copyright, and support clients in maximizing IP value.

Qualifications

• Experience handling both contentious and non-contentious IP matters
• Knowledge of trade marks, designs, copyright, licensing and assignments
• The ability to confidently manage their own caseload
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and analytical skills
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex legal issues clearly
• Experience building and maintaining strong client relationships
• Interest in networking, profile raising and business development activities

Responsibilities

• Managing your own caseload of contentious and non-contentious IP matters
• Advising on trade mark and design registrations from application through to protection and enforcement
• Drafting and negotiating licensing agreements and assignments
• Advising on copyright issues and IP ownership disputes
• Supporting clients in protecting, commercialising and maximising the value of their intellectual property assets
• Advising on related matters including data protection, e-commerce and technology issues where appropriate
• Assisting Partners and senior lawyers on more complex commercial transactions
