Manager, Investment Performance Analytics – Investment Management

London | Hybrid working model

We’re working on a senior-level opportunity to lead the Investment Performance function within a well-regarded investment management firm. This individual will play a central role in overseeing performance measurement and attribution analysis across a range of portfolios, as well as acting as the go-to expert for complex performance-related queries.

Key Responsibilities:

Performance Oversight

Manages the delivery of detailed performance reports and attribution analysis across investment portfolios. Acts as a lead advisor to key internal stakeholders and ensures technical accuracy across all performance-related outputs.

Client & Stakeholder Interaction

Leads the team responding to high-level and technical performance inquiries from internal teams and clients. Ensures high standards of service, data accuracy, and responsiveness.

Responsible for hiring, developing, and managing a team of analysts. Provides coaching and performance feedback, ensuring training and development needs are met. Oversees performance reviews and salary decisions in line with internal HR frameworks.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Acts as a senior point of contact for global teams, collaborating across regions and functions to ensure consistent performance methodologies and best practices. Supports relationship management teams in communicating performance insights.

Drives the development and enhancement of complex performance calculation models. Works alongside investment teams to assess risk-adjusted returns, while staying updated on industry standards in benchmarking and attribution.

Insights & Reporting

Interprets analytical trends and performance results, delivering insights and recommendations to senior leadership. Works across teams to improve the quality and clarity of performance data and internal reporting.

Process & Technology Improvement

Identifies opportunities for improving performance analytics and reporting systems. Oversees tool development and initiatives aimed at streamlining delivery and improving scalability.

Strategic Projects

Participates in firm-wide initiatives and leads on ad hoc projects where performance insights are required.

Desired Experience & Technical Skills:

• Strong background in performance measurement, investment analytics, and attribution reporting, ideally within an asset management or financial services context.
• Familiarity with key methodologies such as daily TWR, IRR, and both arithmetic and geometric attribution, including fixed income attribution models.
• Solid understanding of global indices (e.g., MSCI, S&P/ASX) and investment classifications (e.g., GICS/BICS), as well as valuation metrics like dividend yield, PE ratio, and duration.
• Experience applying ex-post performance metrics such as alpha, beta, volatility, Sharpe and information ratios. Ex-ante risk understanding a plus.
• Strong knowledge of multi-asset portfolios, including equities, fixed income, derivatives, and alternative investments.
• CFA charterholder or working towards the qualification is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, multi-faceted environments and to lead performance strategy amidst changing priorities.
• Strong communicator with the ability to simplify complex data for senior audiences.
• Strategic thinker with sound judgement and decision-making capabilities.
