Serco Limited is seeking an Inventory Operative based in Leicester (base location) covering East Midlands, West Midlands, and East of England. The role involves safe vehicle operation, transporting and assembling items, and ensuring timely deliveries within a structured schedule.

You will maintain vehicle compliance, deliver excellent customer service, and support regional operations to keep essential services running smoothly, contributing to a better future for communities.

Responsibilities

  • Safely drive company vehicles in line with legislation and policies.
  • Transport and assemble household items as required.
  • Plan delivery routes and complete deliveries on time.
  • Return unused or damaged stock to the warehouse.
  • Carry out daily vehicle inspections and arrange servicing/MOT as needed.
  • Provide good customer service at delivery locations.
  • Follow road, workplace, and health & safety regulations.
  • Complete documentation and use IT systems for administration and reporting.
  • Communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders to support service delivery.

Salary: £27,750 plus excellent benefits
Schedule: Permanent, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm

As an Inventory Operative in our AASC Inventory Team, you'll help ensure the safe and reliable transportation of passengers, household goods, and essential items across the East Midlands, West Midlands, and East of England. Your work has purpose, supporting people who rely on vital services while helping us deliver a positive impact on communities.

Working across the region, you'll play a key role in maintaining trust, care, and safety in every journey. From supporting passengers and their families to ensuring vehicles remain compliant and roadworthy, you'll help create impactful solutions that keep services running smoothly while contributing to a better future.

What you'll do as an Inventory Operative
  • Safely drive company vehicles in line with legislation, company policies, and operational procedures.
  • Transport and assemble household furniture, appliances, and other items as required.
  • Planning delivery routes and completing deliveries on time.
  • Returning unused or damaged stock to the warehouse
  • Carry out daily vehicle inspections, report defects, and arrange servicing and MOT requirements where necessary.
  • Providing good customer service at delivery locations.
  • Follow road, workplace, and health & safety regulations.
  • Complete accurate documentation and use internal IT systems for administration and journey reporting.
  • Communicate effective with operational teams, stakeholders, and external agencies to support service delivery.

  • Full UK Category B driving licence.
  • Good understanding of UK driving regulations and road safety requirements.

You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire to help us identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
