Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting Intervention Tutors to work across welcoming secondary schools in North Leeds, starting September 2026. We offer both long-term and flexible opportunities, with many roles offering the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

This role is ideal for recent graduates looking to gain valuable classroom experience before progressing into teaching, educational psychology, counselling, youth work, or another education-based career.

Qualifications

  • A recent degree in Education, English, Maths, Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, Health & Social Care or related subject.
  • Experience with children or young people in tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering or school placements is desirable but not essential.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Confidence supporting pupils with literacy and numeracy.
  • Adaptable, proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning support.
  • Two recent professional or academic references required.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver targeted intervention sessions in English, Maths or other curriculum areas to individuals and small groups.
  • Support pupils requiring additional academic, emotional or behavioural support to engage with learning.
  • Work with teachers to identify learning gaps and implement tailored intervention plans.
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual pupil needs and learning styles.
  • Build positive relationships to encourage confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff.
  • Support pupils in preparing for assessments and achieving learning targets.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.

Job description

We’re currently recruiting Intervention Tutors to work across a range of welcoming secondary schools in North Leeds, starting in September 2026. We have both long-term and flexible opportunities available, with many roles offering the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

This role is ideal for recent graduates looking to gain valuable classroom experience before progressing into teaching, educational psychology, counselling, youth work, or another education-based career.

As an Intervention Tutor, you’ll work closely with pupils who require additional academic support, delivering targeted interventions to help close learning gaps, build confidence and improve attainment. You’ll support learners on a 1:1 or small group basis, working alongside teachers to ensure every pupil reaches their full potential.

Your Main Responsibilities Will Include:

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience and the requirements of the assignment.
