Job summary

AMA Admin is recruiting Intervention Tutors to support pupils in North Leeds secondary schools from September 2026. Roles are long-term and flexible, with some opportunities to become permanent for the right candidate.

Ideal for recent graduates seeking classroom experience before pursuing teaching or related education careers. You’ll deliver targeted interventions 1:1 or in small groups, working with teachers to close gaps and raise attainment.

Qualifications

  • Recent graduates with a degree in Education or related subject are sought.
  • Experience with children/young people is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills are required.
  • Ability to support learners with literacy and numeracy is important.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver intervention sessions in English, Maths or other subjects to individuals or small groups.
  • Support pupils needing academic, emotional, or behavioural help to engage with learning.
  • Work with teachers to identify learning gaps and implement tailored plans.
  • Adapt activities to meet individual pupil needs and learning styles.
  • Build positive relationships to boost confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to staff.

Job description

We're currently recruiting Intervention Tutors to work across a range of welcoming secondary schools in North Leeds, starting in September 2026. We have both long-term and flexible opportunities available, with many roles offering the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

This role is ideal for recent graduates looking to gain valuable classroom experience before progressing into teaching, educational psychology, counselling, youth work, or another education-based career.

As an Intervention Tutor, you'll work closely with pupils who require additional academic support, delivering targeted interventions to help close learning gaps, build confidence and improve attainment. You'll support learners on a 1:1 or small group basis, working alongside teachers to ensure every pupil reaches their full potential.

Your Main Responsibilities Will Include:
  • Delivering targeted intervention sessions in English, Maths, or other curriculum areas to individuals and small groups
  • Supporting pupils who require additional academic, emotional, or behavioural support to engage with learning
  • Working closely with teachers to identify learning gaps and implement tailored intervention plans
  • Adapting learning activities and resources to meet individual pupil needs and learning styles
  • Building positive relationships that encourage confidence, resilience, and independence
  • Monitoring pupil progress and providing regular feedback to teaching staff
  • Supporting pupils in preparing for assessments and helping them achieve individual learning targets
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
Requirements & Skills:
  • A recent degree in Education, English, Maths, Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, Health & Social Care, or a related subject
  • Experience working with children or young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, volunteering, youth work, or school placements is desirable but not essential
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning
  • Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence supporting pupils with literacy and numeracy
  • An adaptable, proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning support
  • The ability to provide two recent professional or academic references

This role is paid within the advertised pay scale. Your starting rate will be determined by your qualifications, relevant experience and the requirements of the assignment.
