Job summary

Allianz Global Investors is seeking an Intern for the Development Finance Investment Team in Private Markets. The 5-month internship begins in December 2026, located in the United Kingdom.

You will assist with screening investments, political and financial due diligence, and market research across private credit, blended finance, and emerging markets. You will work with cross-functional teams to prepare investment proposals and IC materials, maintain deal pipelines, and support fundraising

Qualifications

• Currently studying or recently completed a degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Science, Maths or related discipline.
• Expected to achieve or have achieved a 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent).
• Achieved a minimum of 128 UCAS points (or equivalent qualification standards).
• Previous internship or work experience in Development Finance, Private Equity, Private Credit, M&A, Structured Finance, Leveraged Finance, Debt Advisory, Transaction Services or Strategy Consulting.
• Knowledge of financial modelling.
• Understanding of financial statement analysis and valuation methodologies.
• Strong competency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Curious and motivated to conduct detailed independent research across industries and sectors.
• Demonstrates integrity and a strong commitment to ethical decision-making.
• Passionate about sustainability and investing for positive impact.
• Ability to use Microsoft Copilot, with a strong commitment to ethical and responsible AI practices.

Responsibilities

• Support the screening of new investment opportunities, including structuring, preliminary impact, risk and pricing analysis, and drafting screening memoranda with support from team members.
• Support the initial screening of opportunities, including presentation preparation and the drafting of screening papers for Investment Committee (IC) review.
• Undertake financial modelling and transaction due diligence as part of a deal team.
• Review and analyse financial, legal, commercial, ESG, impact and technical reports.
• Source and analyse independent market and industry research.
• Prepare investment proposals and support presentations to the Investment Committee.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Operations, Compliance, Risk, Legal and Asset Management throughout the investment process.
• Maintain the master database and deal pipeline to track sourcing opportunities.
• Monitor key developments across impact private credit investing, blended finance and emerging markets.
• Support the preparation of marketing materials for ongoing fundraising activities across strategies.
• Prepare materials that educate internal and external stakeholders on key market and industry developments.
