Job summary

Tradeline Recruitment is seeking an ambitious Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their Central London team. You will assist in commercial management across multiple projects from award through final account, prepare interim applications, assess variations, manage subcontractor accounts, and monitor cash flow.

The role involves site visits across London, liaising with project managers and clients, and delivering projects on time and within contractual targets.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the UK construction sector.
  • Previous experience working directly for a subcontractor preferred, but not essential.
  • Roofing subcontractor experience is highly desirable but not essential; candidates from other specialist subcontractor backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience working on post-contract commercial activities.
  • Good understanding of standard forms of contract.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit interim applications for payment and variations.
  • Assess, price and negotiate variations and compensation events.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts where required.
  • Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow updates.
  • Support the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
  • Attend regular site visits across London and surrounding areas to monitor project progress and maintain relationships with site teams and clients.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities and report findings to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in line with contractual obligations and commercial targets.
  • Liaise with project managers, site managers, clients, and consultants throughout the project lifecycle.

Our client is seeking an ambitious and commercially minded Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team based in Central London. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with experience working directly for a subcontractor, ideally within the roofing sector, although candidates from other specialist subcontractor backgrounds will also be considered.
