Job summary

Thorn Baker Construction in the Midlands is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on a hybrid basis, with a salary between £45,000 and £65,000 DOE plus car allowance, bonus and benefits. You'll manage commercial aspects of fit-out and refurbishment projects from tender to final account, ensuring cost control while building strong client and supplier relationships.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, fit-out, or refurbishment.
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge.
• Experience managing project costs from inception to completion.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting tools.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Produce valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts.

• Support procurement activities and supply chain management.
• Ensure contracts are administered effectively and in accordance with project requirements.

The Opportunity

An established and growing interior fit-out and refurbishment contractor is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing project costs, maximising profitability, and supporting the successful delivery of high-quality fit-out and refurbishment projects.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from tender through to final account, ensuring costs are effectively controlled while maintaining strong client and supplier relationships.

Working closely with operational teams, you will provide commercial support across multiple projects and contribute to the continued success of the business.

Desirable

• Degree, HNC, or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
• Experience within commercial interiors or fit-out environments.
• Knowledge of JCT contracts.
• Working towards or already achieved MRICS status.
• Experience managing projects valued between £500k and £10m+.
