Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our growing building services team in Chelmsford. You will deliver robust mechanical designs for healthcare and education projects, guiding them from concept through to construction.

You will work with IES, AutoCAD and Revit, collaborate with other disciplines, and help develop energy strategies while maintaining high technical standards and client liaison.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree (BEng/MEng) or MSc.
• Experience in mechanical building services design.
• Proficiency in IES software.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD; Revit preferred.
• Good understanding of building regs, CIBSE, and industry standards.
• Strong communication and project coordination.
• Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards.
• Membership in CIBSE or Energy Institute desirable.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical building services designs to a high technical standard, on time and within budget.
• Prepare detailed engineering calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings.
• Meet with clients to understand project requirements and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Assist in the preparation and review of tender documentation, reports, and recommendations.
• Manage projects through all stages of design and construction.
• Carry out site inspections, surveys, commissioning activities, and condition assessments.

About You

• A Degree or Master's qualification in Engineering.
• Experience in mechanical building services design within the built environment.
• Proficiency with IES mechanical design software.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD and ideally Revit.
• A good understanding of current building regulations, CIBSE guidance, industry standards, and best practice.
• Strong communication and project coordination skills.
• A proven ability to manage workloads and meet project deadlines.
• Chartered Engineer status or be working towards chartership.
• Membership of CIBSE, the Energy Institute, or a similar professional body (desirable).
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
