Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our growing building services team in Chelmsford. You will deliver robust mechanical designs for healthcare and education projects, guiding them from concept through to construction.

You will work with IES, AutoCAD and Revit, collaborate with other disciplines, and help develop energy strategies while maintaining high technical standards and client liaison.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree (BEng/MEng) or MSc.
• Experience in mechanical building services design.
• Proficiency in IES software.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD; Revit preferred.
• Good understanding of building regs, CIBSE, and industry standards.
• Strong communication and project coordination.
• Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards.
• Membership in CIBSE or Energy Institute desirable.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical building services designs to high technical standards.
• Prepare detailed calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings.
• Meet with clients to understand project requirements and develop solutions.
• Assist in tender documentation, reports, and recommendations.
• Manage projects through all design and construction stages.
• Carry out site inspections, surveys, commissioning and condition assessments.
• Monitor installation works to ensure compliance with specs.
• Develop energy strategies and sustainable mechanical design solutions.
• Produce designs using IES, AutoCAD and Revit.
• Coordinate pipework and ductwork with other disciplines.
• Support monthly forecasting and project financial performance.
