Job summary

Aldwych Consulting Ltd is expanding its Birmingham office and seeks an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to help deliver mechanical building services across healthcare, commercial and education sectors. The role sits within a growing practice that values collaboration, low‑carbon design and quality delivery.

You will work on projects from concept through detail design, coordinating with electrical and BIM teams, and supporting energy‑efficient building performance.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
• Experience designing HVAC and mechanical building services.
• Knowledge of industry software such as Hevacomp, IES, Revit or AutoCAD.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Desire to progress towards Chartership.

Responsibilities

The Role

As an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, you will support the delivery of mechanical building services designs across a diverse range of projects, working closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams.

You will be involved in projects from concept through to detailed design and construction stages, contributing to the delivery of innovative, energy-efficient and sustainable solutions.

• Producing mechanical designs for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and domestic water services.
• Undertaking design calculations and technical assessments.
• Preparing specifications, reports and technical documentation.
• Coordinating with electrical, BIM and sustainability teams.
• Attending client, design team and site meetings.
• Supporting the delivery of projects across healthcare, commercial, residential, education and public sector developments.

About You
