Job summary

Vertical Recruitment Limited is seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer in Birmingham. The role offers hybrid working and a 35-hour week with flexible start times around core hours, plus a car allowance.

You will design electrical building services, develop drawings and specifications, and support delivery on multiple projects with senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Two or more years post-qualification experience in electrical engineering.
• Relevant electrical engineering degree required.
• Consultancy experience is desirable.
• IET or CIBSE membership, or progress toward chartership, welcome.

Intermediate Electrical Engineer

Birmingham | Hybrid | £35,000-£43,000 + car allowance

If you're ready to take more ownership of your electrical designs, this role offers the chance to do it within a multidisciplinary consultancy. You'll work alongside in-house architects, building surveyors and quantity surveyors, with support from senior engineers and scope to lead project work as you develop.

The consultancy's published work includes high-rise residential developments and university decarbonisation projects, giving you exposure to both new-build and existing-building challenges.

What you'll be doing

• Designing electrical building services and producing drawings, specifications and schedules.
• Supporting senior engineers with design and delivery while taking responsibility for your own day-to-day project tasks.
• Coordinating with other disciplines and attending client and project meetings.
• Carrying out site surveys and supporting testing and commissioning where needed.
• Helping with estimates, tender information and project planning.
• Sharing your knowledge with junior colleagues, with potential to take on project team leadership responsibilities.

What they're looking for

You’ll have at least two years' post-qualification experience and a relevant electrical engineering degree. Consultancy experience is important, along with the ability to develop practical designs, keep clear project records and work well with other disciplines. IET or CIBSE membership, or progress towards chartership, would be welcome.

The package

This is a 35-hour week with flexible start and finish times around core hours of 10am-4pm, plus hybrid working.
