Qualifications

• 3–4 years of relevant experience in building services consultancy.
• Experience designing electrical building services from concept to construction.
• Familiarity with UK standards, regulations and industry guidance (BS, Building Regs, CIBSE).
• Strong communication and ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and delivery of electrical building services across projects.
• Prepare electrical calculations, specifications, schematics, layouts and documentation.
• Develop and coordinate electrical designs per project requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with UK standards, Building Regs, CIBSE guidance and best practice.
• Collaborate with mechanical, structural and architectural teams to coordinate designs.
• Attend design team and project meetings; provide technical input.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and suppliers to resolve queries and support delivery.
• Review drawings, specifications and submissions; identify design issues and propose solutions.
• Support junior engineers and foster a collaborative team environment.
• Develop technical knowledge and work towards Chartered Engineer status.

My client are looking to recruit a technically capable Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join their growing building services consultancy.

You will have 3-4 years of relevant experience to develop their technical expertise, take greater responsibility for project delivery and progress towards a Senior Engineer role.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be involved in the design and delivery of electrical building services systems across a variety of projects. You will work closely with senior engineers, architects, clients, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered to a high technical and professional standard.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design and delivery of electrical building services systems across a range of projects.
• Prepare electrical calculations, specifications, schematics, layouts and technical documentation.
• Develop and coordinate electrical designs in accordance with project requirements.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards, Building Regulations, CIBSE guidance and industry best practice.
• Work closely with mechanical, structural and architectural teams to coordinate multidisciplinary designs.
• Attend design team and project meetings and provide technical input where appropriate.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and suppliers to resolve technical queries and support project delivery.
• Assist with the review of drawings, specifications and technical submissions.
• Identify design issues and develop practical, cost-effective engineering solutions.
• Support and provide guidance to junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
• Continue to develop technical knowledge and work towards professional registration/Chartered Engineer status.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent relevant qualification.
• Approximately 3-4 years' experience within building services consultancy, construction or a related engineering environment.
• Good technical knowledge of electrical building services systems.
• Experience working on electrical design projects from concept through to detailed design and construction.
• Familiarity with relevant UK standards, regulations and industry guidance.
• Good understanding of electrical calculations, design principles and technical documentation.
• Experience using relevant electrical design and engineering software.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Organised and able to manage multiple tasks and project deadlines.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of project costs and resource requirements.
• A proactive approach with the ability to work independently while knowing when to seek support from senior team members.
• Working towards Chartered Engineer status is desirable.
