Job summary

Smart Teachers is recruiting an Interim SENCO for a secondary school in Newham. You will lead SEND provision, oversee EHCPs and annual reviews, and ensure statutory compliance while coordinating multi-agency support.

The role requires QTS and NASENCO or equivalent, plus 2–3 years’ SENCO experience in a mainstream setting. Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • QTS is required and NASENCO or equivalent SENCO qualification is essential.
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ SENCO experience in a mainstream secondary school.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the school's SEND provision across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Oversee EHCP processes, annual reviews and statutory compliance.
  • Advise and support teachers in delivering high-quality inclusive practice.
  • Line manage and develop SEND support staff.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders, external agencies and parents/carers.
  • Monitor student progress and implement effective interventions.
  • Ensure the school remains fully compliant with the SEND Code of Practice.
