Job summary

Howett Thorpe is seeking an Interim Financial Controller in Camberley for a 3-month, hybrid role reporting to the Finance Director. You will lead the finance function, drive month-end close, policies and balance sheet integrity with senior management oversight.

The ideal candidate will have previous interim experience, be immediately available, demonstrate strong technical accounting skills, and be adept at communicating across all levels of the business.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
• Oversee finance policies, processes and controls.
• Maintain balance sheet integrity: reconciliations, accruals and journals.
• Produce and review reports for the senior leadership team.
• Assist budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling activities.
• Oversee VAT, pensions, fixed assets and statutory processes.
• Maintain finance policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with the Finance Director on planning and risks.
• Report to internal and external stakeholders as required.

Interim Financial Controller – About The Role

In this role you will be working within a finance team of 6 and will be reporting into the Finance Director. You will be leading the technical delivery and financial control of the financial function, ensuring all is running smoothly. The role provides senior financial oversight, supports organisational decision making and ensures the integrity of financial information. Your key responsibilities will be:

• Lead month-end close, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Control and oversight on finance policies and processes.
• Oversee balance sheet integrity, reconciliations, accruals and journals.
• Produce and review financial reports for senior leadership team.
• Supporting with the budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling activity.
• Manage VAT, pensions, fixed assets and statutory financial processes.
• Maintain financial policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Working closely with the FD on financial planning and risk.
• Reporting to internal & external stakeholders as required.

The successful Interim Financial Controller will have:

• Previous experience in a similar position
• Be immediately available to start
• Strong technical accounting skills
• Experience with Microsoft dynamics/business central would be beneficial
• Fully qualified or QBE candidates will be considered
• Ability to communicate at all levels
