Job summary

HW Finance is seeking an experienced Interim Group Financial Controller to lead the finance function across multiple sites, delivering robust financial control and timely reporting.

You will own monthly management accounts, MI, budgeting, cash flow reporting, and work with senior stakeholders to drive improvements. ACA/ACCA/CIMA desirable, hands-on leader with strong Excel skills.

This interim role offers strategic influence during a period of development and growth.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Interim Group Financial Controller to join a growing, multi-site business and take ownership of the finance function during an important period of development.

This is a hands-on and commercially focused role for an individual who can operate at both strategic and detailed levels. You will be responsible for strengthening financial control, improving management information and ensuring the business has accurate, timely and meaningful financial reporting to support decision-making.

The successful candidate will be comfortable rolling up their sleeves, improving existing processes and bringing greater structure, visibility and accountability to the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the Group finance function and financial control environment.
• Lead the monthly management accounts and month-end close process.
• Produce accurate and insightful monthly MI and reporting for senior management.
• Analyse performance, margins, costs, profitability and working capital.
• Develop and improve budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow reporting.
• Take ownership of cash management and working capital.
• Strengthen financial controls, processes and governance.
• Identify and implement improvements across finance systems and processes.
• Lead and develop the existing finance team.
• Work closely with operational and commercial stakeholders, providing financial insight and constructive challenge.
• Support year-end accounts, audit, VAT and statutory reporting.
• Improve the quality, accuracy and accessibility of financial information across the Group.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar who has a proven track record of running and improving an end-to-end finance function.

You will ideally have:

• Strong experience producing monthly management accounts and MI.
• Proven financial control and technical accounting experience.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and working capital.
• Experience managing and developing finance teams.
• A track record of improving finance processes, controls and systems.
• Strong Excel and financial modelling skills.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders.
• A hands-on approach, with the ability to get into the detail when required.
• Experience working across multiple entities, sites or business units would be advantageous.
• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification is desirable, although relevant experience and capability will be equally important.

£400-£500 per day, inside IR35.
