Qualifications

• AAT/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent studies, finance systems/process improvements desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
• Prepare journals, accruals, prepayments and month-end adjustments.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
• Support cash flow forecasting and wider financial analysis.
• Produce management information to support decision making.
• Prepare VAT returns and ensure accuracy/compliance.
• Assist with year-end activities and ERP system implementation.
• Develop and maintain finance procedures and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting.

Interim Assistant Management Accountant – Grimsby – Up to £35,000

We are currently recruiting on behalf of an established and successful business operating within a specialist sector, with a strong presence across the UK and a varied commercial operation. They are seeking a dedicated Assistant Management Accountant to join their team on a minimum 3 month interim basis.

This is a varied role offering exposure across month end management accounts, financial analysis, VAT, reconciliations and finance systems, making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking to build on their existing accounting experience and develop towards a broader management accounting position.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports
• Preparing and posting journals, accruals, prepayments and other month-end adjustments
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances or discrepancies
• Assisting with cash flow forecasting and wider financial analysis
• Producing management information to support decision‑making across the business
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Reconciling VAT accounts and investigating discrepancies
• Supporting year‑end accounting activities
• Assisting with the implementation of a new ERP system
• Developing and maintaining finance procedures and documentation
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting

You will ideally have:

• Previous accounting experience, ideally with exposure to assisting with management accounts
• Good knowledge of core accounting principles, VAT and reconciliations
• Strong Excel skills with confidence working with financial data and analysis
• Excellent attention to detail, organisation and problem‑solving skills
• AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent study, with experience of finance systems/process improvement desirable
