Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited are seeking a designer for the Interconnects Team in Electronic Engineering. Hybrid working with 2–3 days on site; the role focuses on cables and interconnectivity, using Zuken E3 to deliver high-quality design definitions and schematics.

The contract is 12 months initially, Inside IR35 at £50 per hour umbrella, with extension possible based on performance. Strong E3 experience and Windchill/Creo skills are required.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years' experience using E3 with cables and related products.
• Define, deploy and refine processes within E3 including topology, schematics and 2D drawings.
• Develop and deliver technical instruction to E3 users.
• Understand product data management and change management in Windchill or similar.
• Design cable assemblies based on electrical constraints such as current, EMC and voltage drop.
• Appreciate cable assembly production/process engineering.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with Creo Cabling and HarnWare would be beneficial.

• Provide guidance and support to other areas of the business in order to resolve any manufacturing issues, as well as supporting functional and environmental product trials.
• Read and/or support process development and capability improvement for Zuken E3 workflow.

Overview of Department:

The role will be working within the Interconnects Team in Electronic Engineering (EE). EE aims to develop leading edge electronic engineering expertise, capabilities and technologies. The Interconnects Team forms a valuable part of this, tasked with providing a professional design service, embracing new and existing technology to meet quality and timescales, ensuring customer satisfaction.

The Interconnects Team are our Primary Technical Experts for Interconnectivity for the company and responsible for the design of cables and interconnecting mediums. We provide exemplary technical expertise and technological innovation while enjoying our design work.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret sub-system requirements
• Generate electrical schematics and cable design definitions utilising Zuken E3.
• Provide assistance, guidance, and issue resolution for E3 users and the ability to utilise & integrate Zuken E3 throughout the product development lifecycle

Skillset / Experience required:

• A minimum 2-5 years’ experience in the use of E3. Cable and related products (E3.Formboard / E3.3D Transformer beneficial).
• A proven ability to define, deploy, and refine processes and best practices within E3 – including; electrical topology, wiring schematics and 2D manufacturing drawing processes and standards.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver technical instruction to E3 users.
• Thorough understanding of product data management and change management within Windchill or similar.
• The ability to design cable assemblies based upon electrical constraints such as current, screening, signal types, volt drop, EMC and environmental requirements.
• An appreciation of cable assembly production/process engineering.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience of PTC CREO Cabling and HarnWare would be beneficial.
