Morson Edge is recruiting for an Interconnects Cable and Harness Design Engineer in the Manchester area. The role is hybrid, 2–3 days on site with travel to Stevenage if not based locally, and an initial 6-month contract inside IR35 at about £50 per hour umbrella.
You will design electrical interconnects for power, signal and data transmission, create schematics, define harness definitions, and support manufacturing and testing activities.

Overview of Department:
A leading defence client has a fantastic opportunity for an Interconnects Design Engineer to work within our growing Interconnects team designing bespoke electrical interconnects / cables suitable for the transmission of power, signal and data within and between subsystems in our products, developing and designing Test Equipment solutions for the next generation of weapons.
Responsibilities:
To do this you will need to interpret sub-system requirements and, from these, generate electrical schematics and cable design definitions on Microsoft Visio & HarnWare work packages. You will need to be able to carry out investigations into a full range of cable problems and issues; developing and preparing solutions, either individually or as a member of a project team. The role also includes support to manufacturing in order to resolve any manufacturing issues, as well as supporting functional and environmental product trials.

Due to the nature of our work, experience of military Defence Standards and a working knowledge of D38999 connectors in support of cable harness manufacture is highly desirable.
