Job summary

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is inviting applications for a Part Time Midwife (Band 5/6) to join the integrated midwifery team at Torbay Hospital, Torquay. The post requires night and weekend work to provide 24-hour cover, with 31.5 hours per week in a fully integrated maternity service.

Applicants should have completed at least 6 months of a preceptee programme and be prepared to progress to Band 6 upon demonstrated competencies.

Qualifications

• Registered Midwife with ongoing professional development.
• Completed a preceptor programme.
• Experience in mentoring students and less experienced staff.

Responsibilities

• Assess care needs across antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods.
• Work autonomously within guidelines and professional practice.
• Mentor or supervise students and junior staff in the team.
• Lead Professional for low-risk women and provide care in home or hospital settings.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support women with complex needs.
• Promote equality, diversity and rights in care delivery.
