Job summary

Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust is seeking Band 5/6 midwives for a 6-month fixed-term post with 37.5 hours per week. Night and weekend work will be required to provide 24-hour cover across Torbay Maternity Service.

The role focuses on integrated midwifery care, continuity of care, and working within an established, supportive team to deliver safe, personalised birth experiences.

Qualifications

• Registered Midwife with ongoing professional development.
• Evidence of continued professional development.
• Completed a preceptor programme.

Responsibilities

• Assess care needs and plan antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.
• Mentor and supervise junior staff and students.
• Lead for low-risk women and provide care in home and hospital settings.
• Collaborate with colleagues to meet complex needs and advocate for women's choices.
• Participate in annual appraisal and identify training needs.
