Job summary

Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 6 Midwife to join its Maternity Services team. The role focuses on compassionate, personalised and evidence-based care for women, birthing people and their families across antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods.

You will work as an autonomous practitioner, supporting safe and equitable care in hospital and community settings, while promoting informed choice and physiological birth where appropriate.

Job description

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated and skilled Band 6 Midwife to join our Maternity Services team within Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. In this rewarding role, you will provide high quality, personalised and evidence-based care to women, birthing people and their families throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods.

As an autonomous practitioner, you will support the delivery of safe and equitable maternity care across both hospital and community settings, whilst promoting informed choice, physiological birth where appropriate, and positive outcomes for women, babies and families.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside midwives, obstetricians, anaesthetists, neonatal colleagues, health visitors, safeguarding teams and other healthcare professionals. The successful candidate will also contribute to mentoring students and junior staff, service improvement initiatives and the ongoing development of maternity services.
